No place to call home: the social impacts of housing undersupply on young people

Report that explores the social impacts of the undersupply of housing on young people. Through quantitative and qualitative research, it was found that, although it is still a strong aspiration - with 88 per cent of young people aged 18-30 wanting to own their own home in 10 years' time - homeownership is thought to be unattainable for a majority. Fifty-one per cent of those currently renting thought that they would not be able to own in the next 10 years.

Under one roof

Paper that explores how social housing providers can face up to the dual challenges of increased demand and fewer resources by doing what they do best – providing early, low level supports inan integrated fashion, to ensure resources go further and to generate greater cost savings for the NHS, social care and criminal justice systems.

Under-occupation and the new policy framework: a report to the Housing Futures Network

Report commissioned by the Housing Futures Network as part of the Facing the Future work being carried out by Cambridge Centre for Housing and Planning Research. The main report looks at wider changes to the sector and the financial challenges that it faces. It looks at under-occupation within social housing and explores in detail the implications of the proposed cuts to housing benefit that will affect under-occupiers of working age.

Social housing and social exclusion 2000-2011

Report that assesses how much social housing tenants could be described as "socially excluded‟ in 2000, and whether and if so, how and by how much this had changed by 2011.

It explores how much any change in the social exclusion of social housing residents can be attributed to housing and regeneration policies, and how much to other factors, including broader housing and social exclusion policy, and economic and social change.

Tenure rights and responsibilities

This paper, commissioned as part of JRF's Housing Market Taskforce programme, also:
* examines the problems associated with current housing legislation, particularly on social housing; and
* outlines options for the reform of tenure and assesses their likely impact on vulnerable groups and housing market volatility.
