Alcohol and drugs delivery reform group: final report

This is the report of the Alcohol and Drugs Delivery Reform Group. In January 2008 the Delivery Reform Group to improve alcohol and drug delivery arrangements and ensure better outcomes for service users was established by the Scottish Government. Members were invited from the Scottish Advisory Committee on Drug Misuse (SACDM) and the Scottish Ministerial Advisory Committee on Alcohol Problems (SMACAP).

Performance inspection of social work services: Midlothian Council 2008

Midlothian Council social work division performed to an adequate standard in delivering positive outcomes for people who used services. The performance was good in relation to service users who had mental health problems, throughcare and aftercare services for care leavers and educational attainment of looked after children.

This report is not a detailed description of all the social work services in Midlothian. It gives an overview and concentrates on the work being undertaken with people who need assistance and the areas where improvements are needed.

Delivering Succession Strategies

This research reviews the experiences of case study partnerships in developing appropriate arrangements for succession. This report sits alongside other strands of NDC National Evaluation research,including practice studies on ‘Working with Local Strategic Partnerships and Local Area Agreements’, ‘Community Elections’, and case study research on community engagement in NDCs.

Delivering better outcomes: an outcomes toolkit for alcohol and drugs partnerships: version 1

This toolkit is intended to provide guidance to Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (ADP) in operating in an outcomes based environment and to support working relationships with local partners and service providers. This toolkit is intended to assist ADPs to identify local priority outcomes relating to alcohol and drugs.

Supporting local information and research: Understanding demand and improving capacity

This review intends to understand how to strengthen support to local partners in using local information and research in decision-making. The investigation has probed the following questions: what are the sources of demand for local information and research?; how is research carried out locally?; how is local information and analysis currently supported by national, regional and sub-regional organisations? This report includes recommendations for national, regional, and local organisations for strengthening support for local partners.

Elective home education: guidelines for local authorities

These government guidelines have been prepared to help local authorities carry out their statutory responsibilities and manage their relationships with home educating parents. Where parents have chosen to home educate, it is important that home educated child to have a positive experience. These guidelines aim to clarify the balance between the right of the parent to educate their child at home and the responsibilities of the local authority. ‘Parents’ should be taken to include all those with parental responsibility, including guardians and carers.
