This resource is a brief summary of the research programme and report 'Making us count' by the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities. The research centred on four projects, covering a wide range of young people. The starting point for all the projects was the young people themselves – their thoughts, their feelings and their views.

Guidance document laying out the arrangements which should be implemented to manage the risks presented by young people exhibiting harmful sexual behaviour and who are living independently but not being managed within MAPPA. It also acts as a framework for effective multi-agency working between agencies involved with this group, especially social workers and housing providers.

Young refugees : setting up mentoring schemes for young refugees in the UK

This guide is an introduction to mentoring and befriending schemes for young refugees. Mentoring is commonly seen as a way of supporting young people to meet their education, training and employment aspirations. Befriending tends to concentrate more on supporting a young person emotionally, having someone to talk to and have fun with.

Review of the Children's Legal Representation Grant Scheme (Research findings no.48/2009)

Summary of the main findings of research which looked at the Legal Representation Grant Scheme, a scheme which permits children's hearings to appoint legally qualified individuals to represent children when this is required. The purpose was to review the operation of the scheme and inform its future development.

Report of the case management inquiry

This report outlines the findings of a case management inquiry into the way in which a young man was placed by the Adult Placement Service in a family where he then seriously abused two children. The inquiry considers events in the areas of: response to the need for an emergency placement; care planning; and the Social Services Directorate's policy and procedures. Failure of the Leaving Care Team to carry out a risk assessment or pass on information about previous incidents to the Adult Placement Service are highlighted. Recommendations are included.
