Systematic review of the impact of citizenship education on the provision of schooling

The policy framework for citizenship education identifies three broad educational aims: the moral and social development of students, political literacy and community involvement. The review aims to inform the way in which citizenship education is implemented in schools, particularly in relation to curriculum content, pedagogy, leadership and management, school ethos and community relations. This systematic review was published by EPPI-Centre in 2004.

Systematic review of research evidence of the impact on students in secondary schools of self and peer assessment

The aim of the review was to fill this gap by addressing, through a systematic review, the research evidence of the impact on students in secondary schools of self and peer assessment. Evidence of how any impact depends on particular circumstances has been sought so that, where trustworthy evidence is found, implications for policy and practice can be identified.

School-level actions to promote community cohesion : a scoping map

This review was commissioned by the Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Co-ordinating Centre (EPPI-Centre), part of the Social Science Research Unit at the Institute of Education, University of London, on behalf of the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF). It is intended to inform the DCSF about the nature and extent of research literature on school actions to promote community cohesion. This systematic review was published by EPPI-Centre in 2008.

Prevention and response to identity-based bullying among local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales

This project was commissioned by the Equality and Human Rights Commission in December 2009 with the aim of providing an insight into identity-based bullying of young people in schools and in the wider community, and examining the preventative and responsive strategies currently being used to address it in local authorities across England, Scotland and Wales.

Aiming High for Young People

In 2007 the Government launched a 10-year plan for young people. Its full title was ‘Aiming High for Young People: A Ten Year Strategy for Positive Activities’. This document outlines the commitments made within the plan and how the Government plans to implement these. It includes contact information so that young people can get involved and give their opinions.
