A matter of substance?: alcohol or drugs - does it make a difference to the child?

In 2006, Aberlour Child Care Trust and the Scottish Association of Drug and Alcohol Teams joined together to hold a second Think Tank to address the question 'Alcohol or Drugs' Does it make a difference for the Child?'. This report is entirely drawn from the Think Tank’s discussions and represents the knowledge and views of experienced managers, practitioners and researchers. It does not include evidence from research or the content of policy and guidance documents.

Getting it right for every child: draft Children's Services (Scotland) Bill consultation

Scottish Executive consultation on a draft Bill intended to support the implementation of Getting it right for every child, the reform programme for children's services.

The bill would place duties on agencies to promote the well-being of children and to work together. Also included in the bill are measures to ensure that the views of children are taken into account. Grounds for referral to the Children's Hearings system would also change if the bill were passed as legislation.

Document providing a set of commonly agreed principles which can be used by all services supporting young people to help deliver the fifteen national outcomes laid down in the Scottish Government's National Performance Framework.

Hidden children: separated children at risk

Report that stresses how vital it is for the authorities to co-operate to help trafficked children get access to their rights and entitlements, as well as certainty about their immigration status, in order to move forward after escaping the exploitative situation. It aims to provide a wake-up call to teachers, social workers, third sector organisations and the police.
