OU on the BBC: A Picture of Health

A Picture of Health is a sixty minute documentary on a day in the life of the National Health Service. On Wednesday November 13th 2002, nine NHS workers were followed for the day by nine film crews. The film starts in the morning and ends very late at night, cutting between different stories. The aim is to see what our NHS is really like – by seeing it through the eyes of those working for it. This resource looks at the UK education system. On January 15th 2004 a dozen film crews from the BBC in Bristol went out across the length and breadth of the country to capture a day in the life of education. Each crew followed a single person over their normal day.

Being Positive

Being Positive, a two-part investigative Open University/BBC series, examines the nature of the AIDS virus, how it works and the history of the development of HIV drug treatments. Part one, Dead Unlucky and part two, Dead Lucky, follow the stories of people who have been infected. Child of Our Time is one of the programmes available on the Open2.net website, which is the online learning portal from the Open University and the BBC. The programme's presenter Robert Winston returns to the children born in the year 2000 to discover how they're developing. The children are now learning right from wrong, discovering about happiness - and, for some, adjusting to no longer being an only child.
