Dignity in care [SCIE guide 15]

The dignity in care section of the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) website lists eight main factors that promote dignity in care. Each of these Dignity Factors contributes to a person's sense of self respect, and they should all be present in care. The pages were published in June 2010 and will be reviewed in June 2013.

SCIE guide 14 : Improving outcomes for service users in adult placement : commissioning and care management

This guide sets out the findings of the 2005 practice survey, and suggests practice points for care managers, line managers and their managers, and directors of adult social care services, as well as adult placement schemes, to help improve outcomes for people using adult placement services.

SCIE guide 13 : learning, teaching and assessment of law in social work education

This guide focuses on learning, teaching and assessing law in social work education. It is not the purpose of the guide to prescribe law curriculum content. Rather, its purpose is to set out the key choices that those engaged in learning, teaching and assessing law must consider. This is followed by examples of how that learning, teaching and assessment might be enriched, for example through the involvement of experts by experience, or the use of case studies.

This guide looks at how childcare professionals can make a difference to young people's experiences of foster care. This guide unpacks the concept of resilience and provides helpful hints for practice as well as access to further resources. It is aimed at the qualifying and newly qualified childcare professional and outlines why they matter in the life of a foster child.

Guidance for best practice for the management of intimate images that may become evidence in court

Concern has been expressed about the possibility of inappropriate disclosure and use of intimate images obtained during the forensic medical examination of complainants of sexual violence or abuse. This guidance is intended to create an agreed practice and disclosure framework in order to reassure practitioners and complainants. This guidance applies to all intimate forensic medical examinations
