Young people and physical activity: a systematic review of research on barriers and facilitators

This review provided a summary of evidence to help develop, implement and evaluate interventions for promoting physical activity amongst young people. It had a particular focus on young people from socially excluded groups and on interventions targeting structural or environmental barriers to physical activity (e.g. poor access to facilities).

Barriers to, and facilitators of, the health of young people : a systematic review of evidence on young people's views and on interventions to promote mental health, physical activity and healthy eating

This report synthesises the results of three previous reviews undertaken by the EPPI-Centre: young people and mental health; young people and healthy eating and young people and physical activity. This systematic review was published by EPPI-Centre in 2002 .Systematic reviews aim to find as much as possible of the research relevant to the particular research questions, and use explicit methods to identify what can reliably be said on the basis of these studies.

Children and physical activity : a systematic review of barriers and facilitators

This review was undertaken to address what is known about the barriers to, and facilitators of, physical activity amongst children aged four to 10. It aimed to bring together the findings from 'qualitative' as well as 'quantitative' research on these barriers and facilitators. This systematic review was published by EPPI-Centre in 2004. Systematic reviews aim to find as much as possible of the research relevant to the particular research questions, and use explicit methods to identify what can reliably be said on the basis of these studies.
