This review provided a summary of evidence to help develop, implement and evaluate interventions for promoting physical activity amongst young people. It had a particular focus on young people from socially excluded groups and on interventions targeting structural or environmental barriers to physical activity (e.g. poor access to facilities).

This report synthesises the results of three previous reviews undertaken by the EPPI-Centre: young people and mental health; young people and healthy eating and young people and physical activity. This systematic review was published by EPPI-Centre in 2002 .Systematic reviews aim to find as much as possible of the research relevant to the particular research questions, and use explicit methods to identify what can reliably be said on the basis of these studies.
