Scottish Government equality outcomes: disability evidence review

Paper is one of a series written to inform the development of equality outcomes for the Scottish Government. Guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) states that a range of relevant evidence relating to equality groups and communities should be used to help set equality outcomes that are likely to make the biggest difference in tackling inequalities.

Disability costs and equivalence scales in the older population

Research study that uses the dual indices of individuals’ standard of living and degree of disability, using UK survey data covering over 8,000 people who are over state pension age. The indices are used to estimate the additional income that each disabled person would need in order to reach the same standard of living as he or she would enjoy without any disability.

Life opportunities survey: wave one results, 2009/11

Report that presents a summary of the latest information collected from the full wave one of the Life Opportunities Survey (LOS), for which fieldwork was conducted across Great Britain between June 2009 and March 2011.

A report based on the interim results - year one of the first wave of fieldwork - was published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in December 2010. The findings in this report replace the findings presented in the interim report.

The position of Scotland's equality groups: revisiting resilience in 2011

Study that seeks to offer discussion and analysis to inform an understanding of how well positioned people in Scotland with equalities characteristics are to access the benefits of economic recovery.

This study accompanies the publication of the Scottish Government’s Scottish Spending Review 2011 and Draft Budget 2012/2013 and Equality Statement: Scottish Spending Review and Draft Budget 2012-13, and helps demonstrate the Scottish Government’s commitment to better understanding the equalities impacts of its decisions.

Disability-related harassment: the role of public bodies - a qualitative research report

Research designed to provide detailed information about disabled people’s experiences and views of disability-related harassment and their perceptions of the role of public bodies.

It was based on focus groups and in-depth interviews with a total of 87 disabled people, recruited on the basis of having experienced disability related harassment in the previous three years.
