Autism spectrum disorder awareness

The Autism Resource Centre (ARC) which is run by Glasgow City Council provides Autism awareness training opportunities for Glasgow City Council staff, other agencies, parents, carers and stakeholders. The ARC has developed and produced an innovative learning experience which provides Autism awareness as seen through the eyes of a young person with Aspergers Syndrome called Aspen. This course gives the information and knowledge to help you understand the strengths, differences and difficulties of those on the Autism Spectrum.

What social workers do in performing child protection work: evidence from research into face-to-face practice

Little research has been done into what social workers do in everyday child protection practice. This paper outlines the broad findings from an ethnographic study of face-to-face encounters between social workers, children and families, especially on home visits.

Disabled youth create their own work opportunities through micro-entrepreneurship

Disabled micro-entrepreneurs are no longer waiting for job opportunities that don't materialise. This New Zealand based pilot project was carried out as a proof of concept that such learning materials can inspire disabled youth to take charge of their career development. This idea is still at the experimental level. The project will develop these interviews into a core online curriculum for disabled youth to get inspiration from stories of unusual successes.
